October is here, and with it came all of horrifying and spooky usuals (a menagerie of "gosh I need to watch more horror stuff" thoughts). Fortunately for me and my never-ending Reading List, I Have! been catching up on some stuff. Just this past week: watched My Cousin Vinny, started Dungeon Crawler Carl, almost finished AYAKA is in LOVE with HIROKO (just the first season), listened to a Soft Girl album that was sitting on my music reading list (this one is even longer, it's a mess) for a couple of years now (maybe since like 2019?) (gosh I need to finish replaying Night in the Woods with the wife). I'm getting good at this Watching Stuff Instead of Just Saying "Yeah I'll Get to It Eventually". You should be proud of me.

Now that most of the repairs in the house are mostly (mostly) done, I can focus on writing for my projects again! That means: going back to writing for Wanderers! the TTRPG™ and for the game-book-thingy (gosh that still needs a name). I also started the grueling task of writing a postmortem for MALVAPUNK (may she rest in peace).

Starting to crack The Devil from the game-book-thingy (gosh that still needs a name). Worked a bit with the wife on the design and the center of her character. I think this lil idea has legs.

1 year anniversary with the wife. Feeling the happiest I've ever been.

Once every year, usually around a birthday (unfortunately the most common type of "We Should Get Together" event in our lives), me and my brother (oldest, 2nd out of 4) ponder around (never really through) the question of "hey, so... which one of us is gonna move into dad's house when he passes away?". We haven't reached a satisfactory conclusion yet. This past year he's been working a lot on repairing all of the broken lil bits and pieces of the house that have been accumulating for the past 2 decades (more or less around the time I left the house for the first time), it's good to see him busy.

Tuesday morning was a rush. Went out with the wife (I love her to bits) to pick up some hormones and meet with a friend > quick coffee run cause my babygirl was Tired™ > paid the bills > bought some groceries > took a lil 1h kinda nap kinda I Had to Run Some Numbers to Make Sure We Can Still Pay The Rent (spoiler alert: we can) > made lunch for the love of my life (she was the one that was napping, actually) > ran late for work (it's ok my boss wasn't done with his shift anyways when I got there) > and Then and only Then my work day got started. Good stuff.

Finally got the PS2 to read games from my home server. I should get to writing an update for The Bleeding Flor/Home Server. Maybe next week.

Slowly getting back into keeping a journal, after a conversation with Gisela reminded me that Oh Yeah I Used to Do That.

In lieu of keeping some form of consistency between the millions of past "me"s and the dozen of previous journals I used to keep, I'll quickly note down what's the current form of the writing setup I'm using:

  • For long-form writing (see: The Bleeding Grounds): a combination of Micro to write my files (this will probably change as I'm currently looking at alternatives, I need a writing software with Actual Normal keyboard shortcuts (looking at you, vim)) and nb to organize/index my local file database, including some misc. files like the csv for the reading list (see: Reading List) and my hledger file (god bless hledger).
  • For ttrpg notekeeping: soloterm, mostly for the convinience of having a dice roller tool along with the char sheets and my notes all in one pretty place (and it is really pretty)
  • For blog management: Did you know that Neocities has a cli tool? I didn't! It's neat!
